Twitter and Small Businesses – Basic Tips To Get You Started

By Nick | Published August 17th, 2010

Today, more and more people are turning to Twitter to get their daily dose of entertainment news, the latest fashion trends, and even the latest iPhone news. For others, they depend on Twitter to order a great cup of coffee. An ebusiness or online business that is linked to twitter will not only benefit in terms of traffic, but also on ratings, sales and revenues.

What can Twitter do for a business?

For one thing, Twitter, as a communication platform, can make it easier for the business and the clients to stay connected with one another. The speed of the shared information will get the people interested in the company, be able to get the news in real time and not just the latest information, the company can build their relationships with their clients making it easier for feedback and ordering methods, even payments, gather the latest in product ideas, designs and features as well as getting the best offers and promotions. On the other hand, the business can also get the latest and real time feedbacks from their clients, including their disappointments and bad experiences.

How does Twitter work?

Once signed up, the user can read and write messages of up to 140 characters at one given time. These public messages can be seen by everyone who is signed up, there are roughly about 50 million accounts currently signed up and even if most of these accounts don’t actually tweet they do follow real time information and use these to find the latest on practically anything and everything.

Businesses and Twitter

Twitter can connect any business to the members with just one message, right now. This is one way of spreading the news that has never been experienced before. For example, if the business is about baby shower souvenirs, all one has to do is to run a search on the company name that sells these souvenirs, one may also see the messages about how happy the customers were about the products, the speed of delivery, the affordable prices – they can even share tips to other users on how they found the company this gives the company that much needed boost in recommendations. Those who are actually having the baby shower party can tweet about how happy their guests were with the souvenirs that they are currently handing out.

Twitter Basics

Once the company is signed up on Twitter, go to Twitter tools and set up the Twitter profile with the WordPress powered blog. One can do three things to have a successful tweet:

• When tweeting, include the keywords that will make it easier for the followers to search for the company in the future
• A short URL can be customized by making them become the keywords
• Link the company blog into Twitter, this will make it easier for the tweets to be seen by others who might write about the company website and even make links to it
• Schedule the tweets at the best time of the day for ReTweeting
• Make sure that the 301 can redirect to the company site by using a URL shortener

This will make it possible for every post on Twitter to become a status message. This will also allow tweeters to track the company in real time and make comments. Once the company gains the followers, there will be more traffic for the business. These followers will be able to see the company’s status updates.

Some companies are more successful than others depending on how they write these updates and it is best to learn from how the others write, their styles and how original they are by actually following the popular tweeters. Remember, any one member is given the opportunity and the ability to post their status every time they post something on their blogs or web site. These can be done manually by updating status updates every time there is a post made.

Once other users or followers see that the company is active and actually reply on their status messages, then they will eagerly follow the company or reply to whatever messages are sent out in the future. It helps if the messages are not only informative but are actually nice to read, so try to be unique and original.

In Conclusion (For You To Begin ;) )

There are very popular bloggers, blogs and web site owners and developers that have their own Twitter accounts and they are connected to the millions of followers. This will increase the traffic into their businesses and give the company the chance to get hands on and personal connection with their customers, clients and readers. This is a great way to also get more friends for the company and raise the popularity of the business.

As Twitter is a free service, the link building that can be done through this application is very logical as this can improve the overall popularity of the business and can connect to a worldwide customer base.

Critical tips to Proper SEO for Massive Website Traffic

By Nick | Published August 7th, 2010

Massive website traffic on autopilot is hard to work yourself into. However, if you take time to look at what the searche engines can give you, then you will be more likely to succeed in a long term business venture. Today, let’s explore a few SEO tips that will help you get massive traffic online with more time to sit back and enjoy yourself.

The first thing that so many “SEO experts” will teach you is that the only thing that you need to look at is PR. Although that may have been true years ago, some people need to update their thinking. Although PR does help some, even Google does not give it as much weight as they used to. And, they were the only search engine that ever paid it any attention.

Instead of focusing only on PR, you need to look at other factors when trying to get massive website traffic and high seo rankings through your link building efforts.

How Many Links Are On The Page: Less Is More

Every link on a page will bleed link juice to the sites they lead to. Although no follow limits how much bleeds out, don’t be fooled by them. NO follow only applies to Google, and they still bleed some link juice, just not much. However, if there are 10-15 links on a page, there will not be as much link juice to pass a long to your own site. You want to make sure that your links wind up on pages that will give you good benefits for your site.

The Nature Of The Link :How does dofollow Or nofollow Affect You?

Since we have mentioned this already, let’s address the myth of Do/No follow links. Although the no follow tag limits how much link juice flows to a site, it doesn’t stop it completely. Many sites have gotten rankings with only no follow links. However, it takes five or ten times the links as if you were linking on Do follow sites. So, you can get rankings with no follow links, but you have to do more work to build enough to make it worth your while

The Theme Of The Page: Relevancy Of The Topic

Now, all of that being said, the biggest factor to look at is the relevancy. After all if you have an article on marlin fishing, and you link to a page on wildlife conservation, that would be considered relevant, because they are related topics.

However if you linked on that same marlin fishing article to a page on dog training, that would be totally off topic. Not only will this link be ignored by your readers on the site, but it would also be ignored by Google when it comes to SEO ranking.

One reason that I love SEO is the quality of the traffic. When you get rankings with a keyword, you basically put yourself in front of an desperate audience. Your traffic is made up of people who are making an active effort to look after that product or keyword that you are targeting. This makes them highly qualified buyers and increases your conversions or sign ups (whatever your end goal is).

Personally, I have had good success with SEO strategy. It is not a fail proof system, but I personally feel that its a more laid back strategy. Once you have your rankings you can just sit back and focus on other things. If your links are good, and built with a solid long-term strategy, and you use high quality content, then chances for your website sticking in Google search results are pretty high. That is the best way to get massive website traffic, and turning that traffic into cash.

Outsourcing to trusted link building services

By Nick | Published August 6th, 2010

When you work online, leveraging the power and experience of outsourcing link building services is a critical part of your website marketing strategy. No matter what your website is about, you cannot do all of the work that it takes on your own.

Let’s consider some of the benefits to using these services. Link building services will help you get more traffic to your sites fast. When you take the time to invest in your link building strategy, you will find that getting the high search engine rankings that you desire will come naturally.

Let’s face it; with all of the competition out there, you need to get massive links out there quickly. You need diversity in your link building, and in order to get the massive numbers for the competitive keywords, you need to hire someone who knows how to get high quality links to your site.

Link building services can give you a variety of links, so make sure that you choose the right one for your project. Some focus on Web 2.0 sites, while others will focus mainly on submitting to article directories.

You will also find link building services that rely on blog commenting or social bookmarking. These are great sources of traffic; however, you need to make sure that the service you hire for these types of backlinks are not just spamming the sites that they submit to. Every link that they send out is promoting your business, and it is your reputation on the line.

I recommend that you look into the history of the link building services that you hire before making a hard and fast choice. Make sure that you are paying a reputable company that has experience. Although you may get a really cheap deal, if they are spamming your links out to hundreds of sites, you may find yourself wishing for more.

Find out about any guarantees that they have. Some will guarantee certain rankings, although they usually work on a monthly fee rather than a onetime payment. Some will grantee acceptance, and they will keep submitting links until you get all the links that you paid for. However, some just grantee submissions. Although these are sometimes cheaper, if they submit to 100 directories, and only 5 of them approve of your article, was it really worth the price that you paid?

There is always some risk to your business when you rely on a third party. However, if you truly want to succeed online, you sometimes need to take that risk. Look at all the great people throughout history. None of them achieved what they did by playing it safe.

What it all boils down to is that everyone who is successful online got there by leveraging the expertise of others. If you want your website to become successful then you need to outsource to trusted link building services so that you can get into the game more quickly, and spend your time more wisely. Hire a link building service that has a high reputation for getting you the back links that you need to stay successful in this game.

Success with Social Bookmarking Online

By Nick | Published August 4th, 2010

Finding success with social bookmarking online is a great way to build up your reputation and your business. However, most people fail to succeed with it because they do it totally wrong.

Social bookmarking online is not about spamming hundreds of links, and hoping someone finds it. The problem is that people get stuck in a rut, and focus only on SEO. Although social bookmarking can help with your SEO, it is more about the direct traffic that it can send your site.

Rather than posting hundreds of links to your own site using a mass submitter, and never going to the bookmarking sites themselves, you should spend some time logging in to your account, posting relevant comments on other bookmarks, boosting, digging, or re-bookmarking other people’s posts, and making friends requests.

The more friends that you have on the social communities, the better off you will be. For one these people will be more likely to bookmark your sites if you are bookmarking theirs.

Also, with Google testing the new Social Search, the more social contacts you have, the better off you will be. Basically, social search looks at the users social profiles, and gives related suggestions based on links posted by their friends lists.

If you cannot see how having as many of your potential customers on your friends list is beneficial to you with that, then you may as well hang up your hat. Social communities are working their way into every aspect of the web including search rankings.

Social bookmarking online also does not work if all that you do is post your own content. Instead, post other content that you find interesting. A forum post, blog post, funny video on Youtube (Diggers love these), and even content unrelated to your niche. This will help engage people, and they will pay more attention to your posts when it is your own content.

I recommend a 1/10 ratio should be your own content. Also, this includes your content on other sites, blog guest posts, and any where else that you post information online.

All that being said, the best way to find success with social bookmarking online is to have other people bookmark your sites for you. Rather than being seen as a spammer, people will see your content on other people’s posts. The easiest way to do this is to outsource your social bookmarking. This helps because the bookmarking experts have established accounts, and you can leverage the power that their services bring to you and your website.

Whatever you do, you need to be getting social in order to succeed online. More and more, people are turning to social communities like Digg and Stumbleupon to find information, rather than the search engines. By using established social profiles, you will build your reputation, grap people’s attention, and move your website into the next evolution of popular website traffic.

Why should big boys have all the fun? Outsourcing for SMB’s

By Nick | Published July 31st, 2010

Very few businesses realize just how extensively outsourcing is being used today. If you haven’t noticed, entire industries are converging; how will you keep up?

Organizations of all kinds are using outsourcing to improve their services and cut their overhead costs. But for small and medium sized businesses, outsourcing has become critical to the growth and success of their company.

Far from being bad for a business, outsourcing is one of the powerful forces available for generating growth and profits. With new competitors just a mouse click away from customers small and medium sized businesses are now realizing today’s standard of excellence may just include outsourcing to break down any existing barriers.

What’s the compelling reason to infuse outsourcing to your business? A number of inherent factors work together to make outsourcing fundamental in streamlining and regaining any competitive strength.

There is a rapid increase in the number and capabilities of outsourcing service providers. Providers now exist for literally every facet of a business’s operations. And if a provider doesn’t exist you can expect that one will quickly enter the market in response to your expressed interest.

Small to medium sized businesses and entrepreneurs are faced with a cost-effective option to build on their client base without removing their focus from their existing customers. Outsourcing provides businesses the ability to remain on the cutting edge without sacrificing the bottom line in trying to keep up with new trends and technology in-house.

Companies must remain dedicated to staying up-to-the-moment with the latest trends to keep your plans fresh and in the forefront. The expertise a outsourced company can provide would give small and medium companies a boost over their competitors. Outsourced companies can also approach new ideas and bring experience in traditional and new contemporary marketing methods including Internet and social networking marketing.

It’s obvious when you opt to hire outside of the company it becomes much more cost effective than keeping internal teams, especially for small to medium-sized businesses that pay close attention to the bottom line. Not only does this option save money on hiring, training and retaining employees, it also saves on indirect costs by providing smaller companies access to the most up to date hardware and software without having to continually invest in keeping their own technologies updated and their staff sufficiently trained.
Big businesses quickly learned that outsourcing improved the performance of several areas of their businesses. It frees capital and resources for investments and reduced their direct costs. Big businesses learned that strategic outsourcing could redefine their business and strengthen their long term platforms.
Time and time again outsourcing has enabled big corporations to overcome failure and leverage the capabilities of outside companies. Take a look at Microsoft – its founder Bill Gates outsources it operational network and his resources are directed at programmers – support staff is outsourced.

Another big corporation that was close to failure is Chrysler; they contracted with an outside vendor to take over telecommunications thereby cutting overhead costs and saving millions of dollars.

In the end, outsourcing is nothing more and nothing less than a tool used in a performance driven environment; and the basic reason is to reduce costs and become a more efficient company. The cost savings can be from 15% to 25% and higher depending on how large your current cost of operations are and the money you contract to pay an outside vendor.

The second most important reason for outsourcing is to refocus your resources on activities that will create a competitive advantage. Dealing with day to day details of operational activities robs executives of time that could be better spent externally. Outsourcing responsibilities to another provider helps big companies focus on defining what the customer needs most and helps guide their performance level.

Lastly, managing outsourced contracts is undoubtedly easier than managing staff; you get to focus on what’s of a business instead of the why’s.

Checking customer emails? Why You Need To Outsource Your Customer Email Support

By Nick | Published July 30th, 2010

Have you been brainstorming cost-effective ways to meet your customer demands like checking customer emails while communicating in a fast efficient manner? Outsourcing can bring some order from all the chaos.

Businesses tend to think in terms of outsourcing according to the hierarchy of the business; however there is also a more lateral prospective. Business Process Outsourcing involves the subcomponents and the work being done within your departments.  Look at all the processes and functions that cut across your departments. When you break it all down the internal process is not as important as the outcome.

Customers care about outcomes; the ease of ordering and having that order fulfilled accurately; the speedy resolution of their questions and problems and ultimately what matters to the customer is the final end point and how the company delivered their value. Outsource your customer email support and you develop a cohesive approach to performing, managing and measuring a customer’s value.

While the basic reason for outsourcing has been to reduce costs many companies are realizing that there are many more benefits that can be reinvested into other areas of its operations. Look at some of the rewards when you outsource your customer email support;

  • Improved Business Hub

By outsourcing your customer email support you’ll be able to focus on your core skills, products and services as well as on more expansive business issues such as branding, strategy and planning while having specific operational details handled by outside specialists. You company can benefit by focusing its resources on meeting other business needs, having been released from dedicating resources to checking emails. In addition your managers can set sights on more specific priorities since their attention will not be divided.

  • Reduced Operating Cost

Perhaps the single most important tactical reason for outsourcing your customer email support is the benefit of reducing and controlling operating costs. Organizations that try to do everything themselves may experience elevated costs for research, development, marketing and more; all of these direct and indirect costs are passed on to the consumer. By outsourcing your customer email support you may increase your competitive advantage.

Cutting costs may not be and should not be the only reason to outsource, but it is undoubtedly a significant consideration. For most organizations, employee-related costs and the associated overhead expenses are relatively fixed, regardless of the demand for the organization’s products or services and during slow times this can become very expensive. Outsourcing allows you to convert fixed costs into variable costs.

  • Re-direct Resources to more Strategic Activities

Most organizations will have limits on its available resources. Outsourcing allows resources to be redirected from non-core activities toward other activities that provide a greater return. With a well planned outsourcing initiative your business can redirect funds to greater value-adding activities.

  • A Level Playing Field

Most small companies basically cannot afford to match the same in-house support services that larger companies maintain. And if you’re a smaller company outsourcing your customer email support can help you operate under the guise of a “bigger” company and give your customers access to the same economies of efficiency, scale and expertise that larger companies enjoy.

  • Availability of Capital Funds

Every organization has an internal rivalry for capital finances; coming to a decision on where to invest these resources is one of the central decisions for management. And it’s a difficult decision to justify non-core capital investments over investments that are more directly related to the product or service. Outsourcing reduces the need to invest capital funds in non-core business functions.

Every business stands to gain a lot from outsourcing; you can maintain a smaller staff and use outsourcing activities to free up resources and focus on more strategic efforts.

By outsourcing various transactions, businesses have been able to add to the organization’s overall performance and competitiveness. It can save money, redirect resources to more valuable activities, achieve a more variable cost structure and reduce internal competition for capital.

Every business is looking to become faster and more responsive and overall increase its level of innovation. Outsourcing your customer email support has been well documented to successfully create these benefits for you.

Taking Stock of the Wide Array of Benefits from Outsourcing

By Nick | Published July 28th, 2010

Since outsourcing entered the business lexicon a few years ago, it seems as if it has become a staple part of running big and small companies. Basically, outsourcing refers to the process of hiring a third party provider to perform certain tasks for you.

Take customer service calls as an example. This has become a major part of a big company’s operations which are such a hassle to maintain. So why would you need to deal with irate customer calls when you can outsource the task to a team of individuals who are experts at soothing a customer’s ruffled feathers? By outsourcing such tasks to an outsourcing firm who are experts at what they do, you can focus on the core competencies of your business and concentrate on increasing your profits.

The downside, however, is that there are certain aspects that you will be losing control over. Using the example above, it would be up to the discretion of the managers at the call center to whom you will outsource the Customer Service department of your company to as to how a particular call is handled. To counteract the possibly negative effect of giving up a portion of your management control, you need to create strict guidelines when it comes to the quality of the output that the outsourcing firm should follow.

Counting Down the Numerous Benefits of Outsourcing

Now, what are the primary benefits of outsourcing? Take a look at the following list:

1. You will save a lot on labor costs.

Whatever negative impression it is that you have of outsourcing, what it all boils down to is that you can save a huge amount on labor costs. When you compare the costs of hiring and training an employee to outsourcing a particular task, you will see that more than half of what you would have paid when hiring your own employee.

2. You can effectively use human resources.

The beauty of outsourcing is that you can hire a professional only when you need to. If you have a business which peaks during a certain season, you can outsource certain tasks during that season only, and go back to your normal operations when the peak has slacked off.

3. For additional labor force, there is no need for you to invest in additional office space, equipment, etc.

Again, the benefits of outsourcing are mainly focused on the cost savings that you will incur. Just imagine having all that added manpower without having to invest in additional office space and equipment. There is also no need for you to go through the costs and effort involved in the hiring and training process.

In addition, you can gain access to the same facilities and latest technologies enjoyed by the big companies without actually having to invest on them.

4. You can focus on the core competencies of your business.

As mentioned earlier, outsourcing certain aspects of your business allows you to focus on your core competencies and increase your profit.

5. You can enjoy faster turnaround time and better customer satisfaction.

Finally, turning over a particular aspect of running your business to the experts will result to faster turnaround time and better customer satisfaction. At the end of the day, outsourcing may have a few downsides, but the benefits still far outweigh the disadvantages. As such, it definitely pays to consider outsourcing at least one aspect of your company’s day-to-day operations so that you can enjoy numerous benefits as a business.

Having Troubles With Hiring? Outsourcing May Be Your Best Bet

By Nick | Published May 8th, 2010

Are you a business owner who is considering expanding your operations? Or maybe you have the type of business which peaks during a particular season while for the rest of the year, the flow of work is something that you can handle yourself.

For these instances, it definitely pays to consider outsourcing. In fact, outsourcing provides great benefits even if there is a small project that needs to be handled – because there are tremendous cost benefits that you will incur.

It’s all about Outsourcing: The Benefits that it can Provide Your Business

If you think that you can only outsource Customer Service calls, telemarketing calls and other business processes, think again. Now that outsourcing has become almost a staple in every company’s operations, more and more outsourcing firms are increasing their skills set so that they can outsource more tasks to third party providers.

The process basically goes like this. If there is a particular task, project or job that you would like to have finished, you can get in touch with a third party provider who specializes in such tasks. The project or job will be done remotely – but you will have the additional staff that you need without having to invest in hiring costs, training costs or even additional office space and equipment.

Another benefit brought about by outsourcing is that when you hire a third party provider, you can rest assured that they are experts at what they do. As such, you will have a much faster turnaround time and highly satisfactory end results.

More importantly, outsourcing allows you to focus on the core competencies of your business. While your outsourced assistant is doing the mundane or important tasks for you, you can focus all your efforts into improving your day-to-day operations while increasing your profits at the same time.

Outsourcing Offshore Staff, Virtual Staff & IT Professionals

Over the years, the outsourcing industry has grown into unimaginable proportions. If you can outsource your call center and customer service needs to India or your other labor needs to China, you can also outsource tasks to Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries whose population are highly IT-literate.

So when you need a web designer to finish your website, you can simply hire an offshore staff who will do a great job of designing your website for you. If you need a virtual receptionist or secretary to attend to the needs of your customers, you can hire a virtual assistant and save a significant amount of money from labor costs.

Lastly, how can you decide whether outsourcing offshore staff, virtual staff or IT professionals is the right thing for you to do? You need to study the matter carefully and check which aspects of running your business you can entrust to a third party provider with minimal risks involved. Make a comparison of the costs, and always think about the expansion possibilities.

At the end of the day, outsourcing staff is a truly viable business solution if you want to save a significant amount off labor costs, while still enjoying excellent end results and satisfying the needs of your business at the same time.

The Importance of High Value Backlinks For Rankings

By Nick | Published February 2nd, 2010

High value backlinks are critical if you want to succeed online. However, most people fail to realize just how critical it can be to your success. If you think about it for a few minutes, you will realize that high value backlinks will give you faster success online, with a lot less work.

When I started working online, I struggled to get my sites working. I followed some self proclaimed experts and struggled to get my websites ranking. Then, one day I woke up and realized that I needed to try building high value backlinks to my site. Today, I want to share with you some of the reasons why you need high value backlinks, and give you the kick in the pants you need to get started.

To begin with, high value backlinks will give you faster search rankings. Rather than having links on thousands of low quality blogs, and article directories, you can build less links, and still get the same rankings.

High value backlinks will also bring you more traffic by themselves. If you have 20 links on sites that get 1000 visitors per day, or you have 1000 links on websites that get 10 visitors per week, which one will bring you more traffic? This seems like common sense, but most people never think about what they are doing.

Another reason to look at the value of your backlinks is the authority it can give you. Everything that you post online will help to build your reputation. If you take the time to build high value backlinks, you will increase your authority. However, by spamming low quality articles to thousands of directories, you can actually hamper your success in a long term business.

Some of these directories will give you short-term success. The problem with them is that they get little traffic. Most people running them have no idea how to market their websites. They just put up a directory, throw AdSense on them to make money, and expect people to find them and build links for them.

Since these people don’t do anything to promote their own sites, the rarely get any traffic, other than other people like you who have been conned into submitting articles to them. No real readers ever find them.
Before long, they cannot keep paying their web hosting fees, or renew their domains, so the directory will disappear, along with all the links you have built there.

However, if you post high value backlinks on sites that know how to market their own site, and limit the number of ads on your pages, you will get more traffic through those pages, and you will have a higher success rate. Your website will fall into the rankings that you need in order to succeed.

Stop wasting your time on low quality link building packages, and mass submission software. Look for high value backlinks that will ensure that you succeed for a long term business. After all, if you don’t want your site to disappear tomorrow, you need high value backlinks that will be there for years to come.
